YG Entertainment will reportedly debut a new girl group to follow the footsteps of the company's top girl group 2ne1 as rumors are going around saying that the latter will disband.
YG recently debuted its newest male group iKON. In the midst of iKON's rise to stardom, some YG followers are asking when will a new girl group see the light of the day. In 2013, YG CEO heavily teased on the new female idol group as he originally has plans to debut a girl group, but changed his mind and announced Winner instead.
Previous speculations claimed that the YG's new girl group also referred to as Pink Punk will include some of the top female trainees in the company. Some of them already appeared in music videos, productions and endorsements.
Jennie Kim was featured in one of G-Dragon's song "That XX". Kim Jisoo appeared in various endorsements with iKON. Moon Sua is currently battling in the second season of "Unpretty Rapstar" and Jang Hana from audition program KPOP Star will reportedly join the girl group.
It is expected that the new girl group will not debut anytime soon due to the Korea and Japan promotions of iKON and CL's US promotions as well as Psy's completing his new album. Although there is no word yet as to when the new girls will hit the Kpop scene, YG fans are crossing their fingers that the girls will start promoting next year.
Meanwhile, there is an unfounded rumor saying that one of Korea's top girl groups 2ne1 will retire from the Kpop industry. Some of the probable reasons of the rumored disbandment are CL's solo US promotions and Park Bom's drug smuggling scandal last year.
Nevertheless, there is a chance that we will not see the return of the girls anytime soon.
