Charlie Sheen, who is known to lead a sexually active lifestyle, has been rumored to be infected with HIV.

Charlie Sheen is set to appear on the "Today" with Matt Lauer to make a "revealing personal announcement." The declaration has come amid the rumors that he is suffering from HIV and has infected many other people owing to his sexually highly-active lifestyle.

Although NBC refused to share any further information regarding the upcoming interview, rumors are rife that the actor will come out in open about his HIV status, a fact that was an "open secret in certain circles" over the years, Fifteen Minutes Chairman and founder, Howard Bragman told New York Times.

It all started on Nov. 2 when a tabloid broke the story that a Hollywood actor is leading a sexually active life despite being infected by HIV. Several publications carried the story that the unnamed actor has allegedly established relations with several prostitutes, porn actresses, strippers and groupies of both sexes without telling them about his HIV status.

Sheen was named as the HIV-infected actor for the first time by Radar Online, which has claimed that it has found the truth after an extensive 18-month investigation along with its sister publication, National Enquirer. The publication has claimed to interview almost a dozen of the actor's alleged lovers to whom he had confessed his illness.

The 50-year-old actor is said to have contracted HIV years ago and was aware of the same for more than two years. He was taking medications and was undergoing regular blood tests. Over the period of time, the virus has become "undetectable" in his system and the actor continued to have intimate relations with multiple sexual partners even after the diagnosis.
