‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Season 12: Sticky Situation From Meredith, Riggs Butting Heads

Martin Henderson is the newest doctor to join Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital on "Grey's Anatomy" season 12.

"Grey's Anatomy" season 12 star Martin Henderson recently shared what fans can expert from his character Dr. Nathan Riggs and Dr. Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) in the upcoming episodes.

Recently, Henderson told Entertainment Weekly that there is definitely some stud where the characters he and Pompeo play in "Grey's Anatomy" season 12 "butt heads."  The Kiwi actor added that Dr. Nathan Riggs starts pushing back and starts getting quite frustrated with Dr. Meredith Grey and "tempers start to flair."

"That starts to then threaten their ability to do their job and actually take care of their patients because of all the infighting," Henderson explained. "It becomes a sticky situation all around."

In an interview with The West Australian, Henderson denied the rumors that he is the new McDreamy on "Grey's Anatomy." He said he understands the comparison given the timing of the departure of Patrick Dempsey, who played Dr. Derek Shepherd, from the ABC medical drama television series.

While he feels honored to be compared with Dempsey, Henderson said he thinks getting the role of Dr. Nathan Riggs was "really a matter of timing." He explained that "The Red Road," the show he was working on for a couple of years for the Sundance Channel, got cancelled when Dempsey left "Grey's Anatomy."

Henderson pointed out that he knew "Grey's Anatomy" creator Shonda Rhimes because he worked with her on a show called "Off the Map" years ago so she invited him to join the cast of the hit ABC series.

Aside from playing Dr. Nathan Riggs in "Grey's Anatomy" season 12, Henderson is also set to star in "Juveniles," "Miracles from Heaven" and "Hellbent."
