Android 5.1.1 Lollipop Update Rolling Out To Samsung Galaxy Note Edge, Galaxy Note 4 (T-Mobile), Update Brings Video Calling, Advanced Messaging

Android 5.1.1 Lollipop initially made available for Samsung Note 4 and Note Edge is now available for Note 3 through custom ROM.

T-Mobile's Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Note Edge are finally receiving the latest upgrade of the Android Lollipop OTA, according to Neurogadget. The two devices initially shipped with Android KitKat.

Other mobile carriers like AT&T and Sprint updated the devices first to Android 5.0.1 and then 5.1.1 Lollipop. T-Mobile becomes another carrier added to the list and it is already rolling out Android 5.1.1 Lollipop to its Note 4 and Note Edge units.

The latest software for the Galaxy Note Edge comes with the build serial N915TUVU2COK2 and has a capacity of 150MB. However, the software for Note 4 comes with the build number N910TUVU2DOK2 (678MB) or N910T3UVU1DOK2 (224MB).

The update for the two devices from Samsung comes with a Video Calling and Advanced Messaging app. These features are essential for users who want to be in touch with other users connected to T-Mobile and have a compatible device.

Meanwhile, Samsung Galaxy Note 3 can be upgraded to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop through SmokkieROM's custom ROM, Reality Today reported. At the moment, Galaxy Note 3 can be updated to Android 5.0.1 Lollipop OTA version.

Here is how to install the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update to Galaxy Note 3:

  1. Download the zip file of the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop Custom ROM and Google Apps to a PC.
  2. Disconnect the handset and switch off to enter the recovery mode by pressing and holding Home + Power + Volume up buttons.
  3. Perform a full data wipe by choosing the wipe data or factory reset, wipe cache, go to the advanced options and tap wipe dalvik cache.
  4. Next, go to the main recovery screen and choose install zip from SD card by selecting Android Lollipop custom ROM by SmokkieROM.
  5. Once the custom ROM is full installed, choose the Google Apps Zip and reboot the handset.
