Google Nexus 7 In The Works; What To Expect From The Upcoming Nexus Handset?

| Dec 10, 2015 01:18 AM EST

Google Nexus 7 will be likely manufactured by Huawei.

A new Google Nexus 7 edition is rumored to be in the works and Huawei is manufacturing it for its 2016 release. The anticipated Nexus 7 upgrade is expected to be announced at Google I/O next year.

Google has partnered with China smartphone maker Huawei to manufacture the latest Nexus 7, according to International Business Times. The Android tablet is anticipated to feature a 7-inch display, possibly the Kirin 950 processor, along with 3GB of RAM and other flagship specs that are yet to be announced. It will also be cheap like the previous versions.

Since Huawei will likely be its maker, the upgraded variant of the Nexus 7 might be like a tablet version of the Nexus 6P, which Huawei manufactured. But tech fans also speculate that it will be the same as its predecessors, which were considered budget tablets made of plastic, Android Headlines reported.

The tech community is surprised that Huawei is likely to get the latest Nexus 7 project and not Asus, the maker of the previous Nexus 7 variants released in 2012 and 2013. This is especially since the Nexus 6P phablet experienced several technical problems. Also, talking about Android N is on the way.

Despite this, tech fans anticipate the upgrade. The Nexus 7 product lines are specially favored for being cheaper than Apple’s iPad and loaded with great specs. Other tablets like Nexus 9 and Nexus 10, made by HTC and Samsung, respectively, are also popular among budget tablet users.

Google is likely to put a $400 price tag for Nexus 7 (2016) for its 16GB base model. For the 32GB model, a $40 will be added.
