`Home Alone' Star Guest Stars in New Comedy Web Series, Gets Thumbs-Up From Netizens

Macaulay Culkin reprises his role as Kevin McCallister in a satirical comedy web series.

The "Home Alone" star is back. Macaulay Culkin just guest starred in the initial episode of the web series ":DRYVRS."

In the premiere episode, viewers get to encounter once again Kevin McCallister, the cute and smart kid from the hit film series of the 1990s. This time, he is an adult who has not gotten over being accidentally left alone at home and having to fend off home invaders.

In ":DRYVRS," Culkin reprised his role with ease. Culkin made baby boomers who grew up with movies like "Home Alone" and "Home Alone 2" turn nostalgic.

Many viewers identified with him in the scenes where he recounted what happened to him as a kid, and when he impishly let out the trademark McCallister scream after the closing credits.

The actor, who hogged headlines many years ago for substance abuse and brushes with the law, was convincing as a grown up and angst-filled McCallister who works as a driver for a ride-hailing company.

Some netizens were amused by the satirical debut episode. One fan described Culkin's guest appearance as "fantastic" while another one tweeted that she laughed so hard, and then realized she had a dark sense of humor.

As a blabbering working guy sharing his story to a customer, Culkin repeatedly uttered cuss words. The deranged tendencies of his character do not surface until the end of the episode, after he nonchalantly subdues a carjacker.

Overall, it was a "pretty funny update" on Culkin's "Home Alone"character, Collider reported.

Culkin ignited just the right amount of attention for ":DRYVRS." Succeeding episodes will focus on other strange encounters between actor-producer Jack Dishel and gonzo drivers who will be tackled by special guest actors, The Guardian reported.

Fair warning was given to families planning to watch the first episode of the new comedy web series via accessible online videos.
