It has been 25 years since Catherine O'Hara, the mother in "Home Alone (1990)," accidentally left her on-screen son at home. O'Hara recently recalled an adorable run-in with co-star Macaulay Culkin that resembled a real mother-son bond.
Moviegoers were not home alone when the film was first shown. It was a huge hit, earning over $470 million at the box office. The acting duo also starred in the sequel "Home Alone 2: Lost in New York."
On Tuesday, Feb. 10, 60-year-old O'Hara promoted her new show, "Schitt's Creek" on Watch What Happens Live. She recalled a charming run-in she had with 34-year-old Caulkin not long ago.
O'Hara hadn't seen Caulkin for quite a long time when she met up with him a few years ago, according to US Magazine. It was at an art opening of Martin Mull, an American actor.
Interestingly, Culkin was living in Paris at the time. O'Hara revealed that he looked healthy and was doing well in life.
During the encounter with O'Hara and Caulkin, the latter shouted, "Mommy!" and then the former replied, "Baby!" The two of them hugged afterwards.
The story of the reunion makes it a picture-perfect scene. In fact, it is the kind of situation that movies are often made of.
The reunion even excited O'Hara's husband, production designer Bo Welch. This was surprising, since his wife shared that he's usually reserved in such situations.
However, Welch wanted to capture the moment. He took some photos of the two co-stars after stating, "I'm getting a picture!" according to Mirror.
O'Hara recalled that the pictures of her and Caulkin were fantastic. Unfortunately, she had not brought them with her to the WWHL interview. She also left them at home!
