After six films in the "Star Wars" franchise, there appears to be a gay character in "Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens." However, in a novel, an LGBT character was introduced in early 2015 in "Star Wars: Lord of the Sith."
He is pilot Poe Dameron, played by actor Oscar Isaac. The hint of a subtle romance was noticed by fans and brought to light by lesbian TV host Ellen DeGeneres. Isaac confirmed the subtle romance but refused to provide more spoilers by just saying it could be with the characters played by fellow actors Daisy Ridley and John Boyega who portrays Finn, the rogue Stormtrooper.
Since Dameron was not paired with any women in the hit film, causing movie fans to wonder if he is gay. This has resulted in memes, fanfiction and couple nicknames because of the hint of a bromance between the two. Among the couple nicknames suggested are FinnPoe, Pinn and FoeDameron, reports BusinessInsider.
An article in Hypable described the discovery by each other that the other was not dead as "a literal screaming-each-other's-name, running-into-each-other's arms situation," and one with "no shame, no restraint, just relief."
BGR notes that Abrams used the love triangle ingredient in "The Force Awaken" in the original "Star Wars" movie. However, what could possibly different this time from the Leia-Luke-Han love triangle is that it would no longer be two men interested in the same woman but a man and a woman interested in the same man in "The Force Awakens."
