Olivia Munn shared a new photo as herself as one of the characters in Bryan Singer's upcoming Marvel Comics film "X-Men: Apocalypse."
On Jan. 2, Munn took to Instagram a photo of herself as Psylocke in Singer's "X-Men: Apocalypse." The said photo looks like an old vehicle dumping site and features Munn in her full Psylocke costume.
In caption, Munn wrote, "To say hello to 2016, I'm gonna say GOODBYE TO 2015 with my Top 5 Favorite Memories of 2015 (that I can think of)..." The actress mentioned that fourth on her list was getting to play Psylocke in "X-Men: Apocalypse."
In her caption, Munn also described Psylocke as a "telekinetic telepath" who chose to kill with a sword because she wanted to do it up close and intimate, because killing from afar just seems too easy and no fun.
With Munn's statement, it is assumed that Psylocke serves as one of Apocalypse's short-ranged attacking Horseman, as compared to Storm weather manipulating abilities and Magneto's metal manipulation, which can be done in a more distant range.
According to Cinema Blend, Munn's Psylocke photo suggests that it was taken from a scene towards the conclusion of Singer's "X-Men: Apocalypse," particularly when the mutant wars gets back and forth.
Munn's Psylocke costume is close to that of the character's in the comic books, according to Screen Rant. Thus, it is assumed that Singer's iteration of Psylocke will be as true to the comics as well. While fans have already known the mutant's nature, fans are still yet to see Psylocke in action and it is rumored that she might have a more pivotal role to play in the film.
Along with Psylocke, fans are also set to see the Professor X and the other mutants in Singer's upcoming "X-Men: Apocalypse," which centers on the rise of En Sabah Nur, also known as Apocalypse.
The film storyline sees Apocalyse recruit his powerful Horsemen to help him destroy humanity. To prevent their archenemy from fulfilling his plan of massive destruction, Professor X must lead a team of young mutants.
Aside from Munn, "X-Men: Apocalypse" also stars James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, Ian McKellen, Hugh Jackman, Nicholas Hoult, Lucas Till, Evan Peters, Lana Condor, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Ben Hardy, Sophie Turner, Alexandra Shipp, Tye Sheridan, Rose Byrne, Josh Helman, and Oscar Isaac as Apocalypse, among others.
Singer's "X-Men: Apocalypse" is slated to premiere in theaters in the United States on May 27, 2016.
