After spending an apparently lonely Christmas, Miley Cyrus seems to have found some good company to ring in the New Year. Recent reports stated that the singer was in Australia with her former boyfriend Liam Hemsworth to spend the New Years eve.

Cyrus and Hemsworth were spotted hanging out at the Falls Music Festival at Byron Bay, Australia, on Jan. 3, Sunday. The two were hanging out in the VIP area with Hemsworth's brothers, Chris and Luke, and their wives, Elsa Pataky and Samantha, and were even spotted canoodling and kissing at one point of time.

The two were did not seem to be hiding their affection and appeared happy to be together, a soure told ET. The presence of the "Wrecking Ball" singer was also confirmed by the official Falls Festival Twitter account that took to social media to share their excitement.

"Miley Cyrus dropped in last night:http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/entertainment/sydney-confidential/miley-cyrus-and-liam-hemsworth-start-the-new-year-canoodling-at-byron-bay-falls-music-festival/story-fni0cvc9-1227695860682 ... #fallsfestival," read the tweet.

The pair spent about half an hour in the packed VIP area, drinking with a group of mates while many concertgoers did not even recognise the low-key couple, The Daily Telegraph reported.

It seems that Cyrus somehow managed to slip in the country last week to catch up with her one-time fiancée, his brother Chris and other family and friends in Byron Bay, a relaxed beach town on the country's east coast.

Cyrus and Hemsworth met in 2010 during the shooting of "The Last Song." After a whirlwind romance, they got engaged in 2012 only to part ways in September 2013. Although the two moved on with the singer romancing Patrick Schwarzenegger and venturing into same sex relationship with Victoria Secret model Stella Maxwell, they've reportedly remained close since the split,
