Recent rumors were out that Chinese Super League club Jiangsu Suning FC is preparing a £10 million bid to snag Yaya Touré from English Premier League giant Manchester City and is reportedly willing to pay the Ivorian midfielder a weekly compensation of £230,000 after tax.
The Daily Star reported the developments as it said that the 32-year-old Touré, whose contract with City will expire at the end of the 2016-2017 season, "is the new target for the cash-rich Chinese Super League".
Jiangsu is one of the most aggressive buyers in world football during this January transfer window, having offered £15 million to Inter Milan for midfielder Fredy Guarin and paying AC Milan £10.7 million for striker Luiz Adriano.
Touré future as a starter with the other Manchester squad has become clouded with uncertainty after reports that current Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola will take over from Manuel Pellegrini this summer, as per Goal.
It should be remembered that Guardiola was the one who sold Touré to City for £6.7 million in 2010 during the 45-year-old Spanish coach's time with FC Barcelona in La Liga from 2008 to 2012. Touré played for Barça from 2007 up until his departure in 2010.
The Citizens are currently connected with investors in China following a £265 million partnership with Chinese consortium China Media Capital in December 2015.
Touré initially played as a defender with his hulking 6-foot-2 frame but has gradually evolved into an effective box-to-box defensive midfielder. He has become so versatile that he regularly switches between offensive and defensive roles during games.
He has so far played six seasons for City, appearing in a total of 249 games and scoring 70 goals in the process.
