The 30th annual Golden Disk Awards will be changed to a new location - from China to Korea.
Last month, Shenzhen experienced a devastating landslide tragedy where the local government had to cancel all large-scale events especially for this month. It includes the Golden Disk Awards, which will be affected by the change. Avid fans have thus voiced their sadness online.
It may have been previously confirmed that Shenzhen will be hosting the annual awards show set up by the Music Industry Association of Korea; however, organizers were forced to alter the location for safety of those joining the show. Subsequently, a massive landslide happened to the region, which was environmentally a disaster in China. Officials decided to cancel all events conducted in the area.,
On his Weibo account, Yoseob of BEAST said that he knows many of the fans are quite disappointed to know that the Golden Disk Awards has moved to a different location from China to Korea. However, it is not the end as they will all meet once again on a better stage. He continues his sorrow for the many casualties and injured individuals that were affected in the landslide tragedy. He will surely be praying for all of them.
The 30th Golden Disk Awards will now be held on January 20 and 21 at the Peace Hall of the Kyunghee University, Seoul. The venue previously hosted the 28th Golden Disk Awards celebrated last 16th January 2014.
BEAST, f(x), BTS, SHINee, Big Bang and VIXX have all confirmed their appearance in the upcoming music awards.
