BlackBerry released a new and very limited Black and Gold version of the Passport smartphone. It is a highly priced gadget and only 50 units were released on the market.
The new variant of the BlackBerry Passport adds to the current black, white and Limited Edition Red versions of the smartphone. It features gold instead of silver trimmings around the phones square body.
The new version of the Passport will be priced $899 in the United States market and $999 in Canada. However, due to the phones limited number prices can go as high as $1,800, according to Crackberry.
Despite the phone's expensive price tag experts say that the phone will be sold out very quickly because the phone commands a certain level of exclusivity.
Each of the 50 released phones is engraved with "Limited Edition" along with a unique production number and a Valextra cover, according to Blackberry.
Wealthy owners of the BlackBerry Passport has even gone to greater lengths in customizing their phone just like what Actor/Rapper Drake did who was reported that he paid a total of $3,000 just to customize his phone.
Interested customers can employ the help of Goldgenie in adding gold customization to a smartphone and the service costs around $2,020.
The BlacBerry Passport was first revealed on July 2014. It surprised my tech experts when it set aside the usual rectangular smartphone shape and instead comes in with a 4.5-inch square shape. '
BlackBerry has not issued a statement whether it will manufacture additional units of the new Passport; however there is an option on the Canadian BlackBerry website that will roll out notification when the phone has available stocks.
The black and gold version of the Passport still retains the original one's specs.
