Xiaomi had a fruitful 2014 as they hold record breaking sales of 2.11 million mobile phones in just a day. Based on facts, in the same year, Xiaomi took the world's third top smartphone brand next to Apple and Samsung.

A ground-shaking 2014 it is for Xiaomi, but the following year wasn't that good to them, as 2015 was totally detrimental for the company. As reported by Tech in Asia, Xiaomi originally projected selling 100 million mobile phones; however, their sales report fluctuated towards the second of the year. Then they lower it to 80 million, which they taught a reasonable quota, but they are still unable to reach the target. Aside from their dropping sales report, Xiaomi also encountered unavoidable controversy like the smart air filter issue, according to numerous reports.

Now, Xiaomi wants to get the crown back and be on top again this 2016. The company now is planning to start anew, and aims to redeem supremacy. According to Reuters, Xiaomi will augment the quantity of handsets that they will be releasing in the market. Based from the same report, Xiaomi will be focusing more on their offline sales rather than their initial strategy of online selling. The company is slowly losing control of the market, and more consumers, based on facts, are getting higher-end smartphones.

With all the issues and struggles that Xiaomi is going through, a fresh 2016 is still their main goal. The company plans to sell 58 million mobile phones this year across China through a local retail store or Mi Home. Xiaomi will get the help of local partners like GOME Electrical Appliances Holding Ltd, Suning Commerce Group Co. Ltd and other retailers.

An analyst named Jayson Low was quoted as saying that "Xiaomi certainly has to adjust its strategy. You can't reach a certain target audience, such as people in the countryside, solely via online channels." In addition to this analyst's statement, collaboration with local retail store would not be advisable for a startup with a becomingly limited profit margin.
