As reports came out that Google intends to take full control, software- and hardware-wise, of its Nexus 2016 project two names are gaining traction as likely builders of the next batch of pure Android flagship device. If indeed Huawei and HTC will be the appointed Nexus makers this year, what would the minimum expectations?
2nd Nexus from Huawei
Owing to the relative success of the Huawei-made Nexus 6P, the chance is high that Google will again entrust one of the Nexus models to come out this year and for good reason. Experts regard the Nexus 6P as among the best Android phone to see the light of the day ever. And analysts are equally convinced, according to Geek Snack, that the 6P sales figures are far better compared to the Motorola Nexus 6 of 2015.
The follow up to the Nexus 6P is only expected to better the already impressive package of its immediate predecessor. That means premium will remain as the key feature of the device and not to mention the specs and features that it will unbox. As reported this week, Google is eyeing to make the Nexus family of devices a formidable foe of Apple's pride - the iPhone that is.
And a tablet too
But before the second Nexus 6P, earlier reports indicated that Google has inked a deal with Huawei to overhaul the former's Nexus tablet line. The result would be, rumors said, the third 7-inch Nexus tablet installment that in some reports was called Nexus 7 2016.
Unlike the first two versions that Asus had assembled, the 2016 edition is tipped to be a worthy iPad rival - the build will emit of high level aesthetic and the insides would be nothing short of powerful and impressive. That little is known for now as Google is yet to say a word on the matter.
HTC comeback
Droid Life recently reported that HTC is making a comeback into the Nexus fold with the likelihood of building two versions of the smartphone brand. The last time HTC got involved with a Google project, the Nexus 9 came out that for the most part failed to excite the tablet market and the Nexus brand itself.
Notwithstanding, Google seems bent to try it anew with HTC and according to the same report, the Taiwan-based company will be tasked to deliver twin devices - a 5-inch kit and a 5.5-inch phablet.
But as usual the case, Google is silent on the matter though the Android world is expecting that more details will pour in in the months to come en route to the Nexus 2016 release date, which likely will happen between September and October this year.
