Nintendo is currently in a state of oblivion. They are quite unhappy with the low profits during the holiday season, especially with the sales of Wii U consoles; however, the company's long-term future looks bright with a possible push into virtual reality, the eagerly anticipated NX console to be released in June, and the unveiling next month of its very first smartphone game.
Nintendo is currently venturing into the fast-paced mobile phone games market, with its very first "Miitomo" to be released next month, International Business Times reported. Nintendo declared its plans to join the mobile phone gaming world with a concept of characters like Luigi and Mario making the move to the small screens. However, the new game "Miitomo" is completely different. According to Venture Beat, Nintento will be collaborating with DeNA, a Japanese mobile games developer, to include a messaging-based free-to-play application.
Last Tuesday, Tatsumi Kimishima, Nintendo's President, said the second mobile phone game from the company will utilize one of its renowned videogame characters, although he pointed to no one for now.
The company is also soon-to-release its next console the NX during the Electronics Entertainment Expo (E3) by June. The console known to be a dedicated games platform shows no details as to when it will be unveiled. Kimishima claims, however, that this is a totally unique and different console as the platform is more attractive. No details have also been unveiled if it is going to be released before the year ends.
Also in Tuesday, Kimishima claimed the company is looking into virtual reality (VR). Everyone from Google to Apple are researching the possibilities of VR, Facebook is opening pre-orders for the Oculus Rift, while Sony is about to launch its PlayStation VR. It's more likely unsurprising if Nintendo will show interest in this market.
Microsoft had supported the Oculus Rift for its Xbox One, so it's more likely that the company's NX console will, or may, support VR as well.
