The chance is high that the Nexus 2016 will unbox with an always on screen display, that is if Google will use the upcoming LG G5 as base-model for the pure Android flagship. LG has confirmed that among the feature upgrades that will unpack with the G5 is a front panel that never sleeps.
The new handset functionality, according to 9to5Google, was confirmed as part of the of the LG G5 release date, which is rumored to happen following the February 21 introduction of the flagship phone. The information was posted on LG's official Facebook page.
While the feature is not exactly original, brought first by Motorola with the Moto X series a few years back, LG's rendition seems to focus on timekeeping and notification purposes. "It appears the company is preparing to use it as a feature to constantly show the time as well as displaying a small app icon for any missed notifications," 9to5Google said on its report.
Always on the LG G5 is also expected to have an integrated motion detector that will wake up the device when tapped, which exactly is the Moto X way of the feature. It is unclear, however, if the G5 add-on will also open the door for a Siri-like feature in the device. Motion detector on the iPhone 6S, for instance, is the power behind the always-on Siri feature of the device, which is fired up by the M9 coprocessor.
Yet the most likely scenario for the Android-powered LG G5 is that the always on feature will be better integrated with Siri's rival - Google Now. If so, this could only convinced Google to line up the G5 as the pattern for one its upcoming Nexus 2016 flagship phone.
As the latest LG G5 teaser has revealed, the handset appears to shape up as a high premium device that is made of melded glass and metal with curvature that is the current rage in the smartphone standard. The handset is rumored too to boast of the superpower Snapdragon 820 that likely will work with up to 4GB of RAM for maximum mobile computing might and speed.
The above specs and features should sufficiently meet the requirements reportedly laid out by Google for its next signature phone. The Nexus maker is said to overhaul its hardware program in order for the pure Android device to become more against the competition, specifically against Apple's iPhone line.
The LG G5 release date is expected no later than March 2016 and if it is to be repurposed as a Nexus 2016 phone, the vanilla Android flavor is likely to come out in the third quarter of the year.
