Taylor Swift bags the Album of the Year at the 58th Annual Grammy Awards

Taylor Swift opened the curtains of the 58th Grammy Awards with a powerful performance of her newest single "Out of the Woods." Jack Antonoff, the track's co-writer and Bleachers' lead singer, also joined her on stage for the grand opening number.

Swift chose to render the song since it is one of the hits from her latest blockbuster album "1989." The singer's stage was a great spectacle and it only showed that she deserves to win an award that night.

And true enough, even before the Grammy's main event started, Swift already won two trophies - the Best Pop Vocal Album "1989" and Best Music Video for "Blood Blood."

In addition, according to CNN, she also also bagged the Album of the Year award for "1989" while "Blank Space" was nominated for the Record of the Year.

Swift did not personally receive her award for she was rehearsing for her performance when the announcement came. In her place, Antonoff accepted the trophy and called the pop singer using his cellphone.

On the stage, the song producer said, "Taylor wants to be here so badly. One sec, she's gonna freak," Access Hollywood quoted Antonoff as saying. When Swift answered the call, the conversation was made public through speakerphone and the audience heard the excited singer saying, "What? We won! We won pop vocal album!"

She also mentioned her co-nominee James Taylor, "Is James Taylor there? Can you tell James Taylor I love him? Can someone who knows James Taylor tell him I love him?"

And although Swift's wins were impressive, it was a memorable night for Kendrick Lamar too as he brought home a total of four awards which include Best Rap Song, Best Rap Collaboration and Best Music Video which he shared with Swift. On top of these, he was the most nominated artist with 11 nominations in all.

Meanwhile, the results of winners yielded a list of first time winners like Stapleton, Ed Sheeran, Pitbull, Alabama Shakes and The Weeknd. Pop superstar Justin Bieber also received his first Grammy by snatching the Best Dance Recording for "Where Are U Now."

The Grammy Awards ceremony was held on Feb. 15 at the Staples center in Los Angeles, California.
