After a short hiatus, “Rizzoli & Isles” Season 6 returns with a back-to-back episode titled “Hide and Seek,” and “Murderjuana.” Episodes 13 and 14 premieres this Tuesday, February 16 on TNT.
According to the official synopsis, "Rizzoli & Isles" Season 6B will follow Jane's (Angie Harmon) efforts in bringing Maura (Sasha Alexander) back. It was said that she will let nothing stand in her way from saving her partner. While locked up, Maura will make a huge discovery about a conspiracy much bigger than her kidnapping. Turns out, Jane is their ultimate target after all.
Episode 13, "Hide and Seek," will pick up where the mid-season finale left off. After her unsuccessful attempt to break free from her attacker, Maura wakes up tied to a pipe in an abandoned building. According to Spoiler TV, her kidnapper is someone that viewers already know.
Meanwhile, episode 14, "Murderjuana" will see Jane and Maura work on another case involving a robbery.
"A security guard foils a robbery when he kills one of the robbers, despite being wounded himself. Jane and Maura work together to solve the case after the search for the robber's accomplice raises some puzzling questions," the synopsis reads.
In January, it was confirmed that "Rizzoli & Isles" will be cancelled after its seventh season. Speaking to TV Guide, executive producer Jan Nash admitted that they already had an inkling that the show is coming to an end when the network only ordered 13 episodes rather than the usual 16 or 18.
While they only found out about the cancellation when TNT President Kevin Reilly announced it at the Television Critics Association winter previews, Nash shared that they all saw it coming. She added that they designed season 7 in such a way that fans will get the finale they deserve, in the event that they will not be coming back.
"We designed Season 7 so that it could act as a series finale or just B story lines that we pull back on at the end to have them continue on. But I think with where we left off and what we already had planned work in our favor [going into the final season]," Nash explained.
