After almost a year of waiting, “Vikings” season 4 episode 1, titled “A Good Treason,” premieres this Thursday, February 18 on the History channel. Clive Standen (Rollo) revealed that fans can expect a lot of deaths in the coming season.
"Season 4 is raw. It's harsh. People die, and no one's safe, and it's all about the struggle for power," Standen shared.
With Ragnar (Travis Fimmel) dangerously ill, his imminent death got the others, including his sons, fighting for the throne. The episode will also reportedly focus on Rollo and Gisla's (Morgane Polanski) relationship. In the trailer, it is apparent that Gisla still cannot accept that Rollo is now her husband.
As Rollo approaches her wife, in an attempt to be intimate with her, Gisla was seen crying, doing the sign of the cross multiple times.
"Don't touch me, monster," she yelled.
When Rollo tries to come near her, telling her that she should not be afraid, Gisla draws a knife and threatens to kill him. Rollo just laughed at her threat, picked up a pillow and decided to sleep at the other side of the bed.
Rollo may have underestimated Gisla. In the new promo for "Vikings" Season 4 episode 1, Gisla was seen trying to kill Rollo in his sleep.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Standen promises that fans of "Vikings" will see more action than ever before come season 4. The actor hinted that the deal offered to him by Charles (Lothaire Bluteau) has not sink in just yet. He still believes that it was a win-win scenario, as he got both the land and the princess in the process.
Turns out, Rollo is in for one crazy ride when the truth finally catches up to him.
"He thinks this is going to be an easy ride, and then we've all seen how he reacted to Gisla's speech. He hasn't got a clue. He doesn't even speak the language. There's no going back," he explained.
Standen also said that fans will get to see a different, more cerebral side of Rollo. This time, he will have to bring his A-game and change his attitude towards Ragnar if he truly wanted to conquer Paris.
