The rivalry between reigning United States champion Kalisto and Alberto del Rio will reach its boiling point at WWE Fastlane 2016, as the two talented superstars settle their score once and for all in a 2-out-of-3 falls match.
What's at Stake?
Kalisto's United States championship will be on the line once again, but this time it won't be any other match.
After helping the League of Nations win over the Lucha Dragons and Neville in a Six-Man tag team match on Feb. 15, Del Rio challenged Kalisto to fight him in a 2-out-of-3 falls match that will surely test their endurance.
The masked superstar accepted the challenge on Twitter, paving the way for a highly intriguing battle at Fastlane.
Who's the underdog and favorites?
Kalisto (-300) is listed as a slight favorite over Del Rio (+220), who is a much more experienced wrestler in big title matches. Over their last three encounters, Kalisto has been successful in using his speed and agility against his flat-footed opponent, although the situation will be a lot different with his 2-out-of-3 falls stipulation in play.
Another thing that could factor in is the expected presence of the League of Nations members on the sideline. Del Rio already benefited from having his group around after he reclaimed the belt on Smackdown last Jan. 11, thanks to a little help from King Barrett.
And although Del Rio lost the gold to Kalisto the second time around at Royal Rumble, the Essence of Execution is confident that his skills along with some outside assistance from his teammates he will be crowned the US champion once more.
Writer's Pick to Win:
Kalisto will retain his title, and it will be a close one. There's a reason why Del Rio wanted this kind of match in the first place. In fact, his physique is built for this highly-enduring confrontation like this. He knew that he can easily overpower Kalisto with ease if it goes the distance. Unfortunately, he forgets one important thing - Kalisto has the heart of a dragon, Lucha Dragon to be specific.
Kalisto vs. Alberto Del Rio results and highlights will be posted after the match.
