Manchester United team captain Wayne Rooney had recently rejected big-money offers from two unnamed Chinese Super League teams "because he wants to stay at Old Trafford", recent reports say.
Mirror reported that the 30-year-old striker had insisted that he is "fully committed and intends to stay" with the Premier League squad "until at least 2018" to fulfill his dream of lifting the English top flight trophy and also "breaking Bobby Charlton's all-time scoring record" with the club.
The report also mentioned that Rooney "has snubbed two approaches" from two of China's elite teams because of the reasons stated above.
Paul Stretford, Rooney's long-time agent, had reportedly listened to two separate offers from the Far East nation's top flight competitions, with one of them making a £27 million bid for the England national football team skipper, but the Liverpool, England native is said to be "not interested in leaving".
Rooney reportedly said that the only way he will leave Manchester United is if the club says that he is no longer wanted at the Old Trafford and he can no longer receive the £300,000 weekly wage that he had been earning since 2014.
Caught Offside noted that it "is surely unlikely to happen any time soon" as the 5-foot-9 playmaker is still "one of the club's few star men and a rare leader in Louis van Gaal's disjointed squad", although he had been off-form for much of the current season.
The England international had only scored seven times in 22 games so far this season, which is not his usual pace.
Rooney is currently in the second year of the five-year extension he signed in February 2014 with the last year, 2019, as an option. He promised that he will stay with the club until at least 2018.
He is presently sidelined by a knee ligament injury and could be out for at least another five weeks, according to reports.
Rooney is now in his 12th season with the Red Devils and had already appeared in 511 games for the squad. He has scored 244 times during that time span, five goals away from Charlton's record of 249 goals in 758 appearances for United.
