We are just under two weeks to go before Chapter 79 of Shingeki no Kyojin becomes available online, yet it's never too early to make speculations on what will happen in the next chapter.
The focus so far has been on Eren and the Survey Corps locked in a highly-emotional confrontation with their former comrades Reiner (Armored Titan) and Bertolt (Colossal) in Shiganshina District, the place where it all began.
But soon, the narrative of story will shift to another battle just outside Shiganshina. The much-anticipated collision course between arguably the strongest soldiers from each side: Levi of the Survey Corps and Zeke (Ape titan) of the Warriors.
Here are three things that could happen in Chapter 79 of Shingeki no Kyojin
Levi vs. Ape Titan round 1 - this is the battle most, if not all SNK fans, are looking forward to see - the all-out clash between Levi and the Ape Titan.
Even before the Survey Corps began their latest attempt to reclaim Shiganshina, Commander Erwin Smith already knew Reiner, Bertolt and the Ape Titan, whose name was later revealed as Zeke, would be there to spoil their plan. It's also the reason why Smith assigned Levi to take on the Ape Titan, knowing that the cold-blooded Ackerman is the only soldier capable of fighting the Ape titan fire with fire.
Will the survey corps finally use the Titan Serum? - Perhaps, in this chapter we will know if they are going to use the titan serum (the one given by Kenny Ackerman to Levi. So far, the Warriors have significant advantage in terms of manpower with three titan shifters and dozens of 15-meter class titans at their disposal. However, the Survey Corps can make the playing field even once they utilize the power of the Titan.
Levi currently possesses the serum, but we all know the captain is pretty much confident in his own skills and it's unlikely he'll use it against the Ape titan. If there's one person who needs the serum the most, that would be Smith who already lost an arm in previous battle with the Warriors.
Identity of Ape Titan - One of the great mysteries in Shingeki no Kyojin is the identity of the Ape Titan. Again, Chapter 77 already revealed his name as warlord Zeke (MyManga), the general of the Warriors. However, there are theories out there that Zeke is actually someone associated with a Survey Corps member, particularly Smith. I'm not sure but I feel that Chapter 79 is going to drop a big bomb that will send shockwaves throughout the entire SNK world.
Chapter 79 of Shingeki no Kyojin (English Version) is expected to be available on major scanlation sites MyManga and MangaFox on March 9.
