Harbin Opera House in Harbin City, Northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, has been named the best Cultural Architecture in 2015 by ArchDaily, one of the most visited architecture websites worldwide.
The Opera House, covering an area of 79,000 square meters and designed by MAD Architects, was reportedly the only Chinese entry to win an award in the annual competition.
ArchDaily, founded in 2008, holds the Building of the Year Awards annually.
Two weeks ago, 55,000 readers of the website, mostly architects, chose top five of 14 categories such as Commercial Architecture, Cultural Architecture and Hospitality Architecture among more than 3,000 entries. Then based on the initial results, the website decided the winner in each category.
