Guangyuan police have detained and are investigating two witch doctors who killed a Sichuan woman by placing her inside a big wooden barrel and steaming her to death. The woman has been sick for year and no cure worked on her.
The two witch doctors, named Hu and Fan, said the unusual treatment would drive away the devil inside Li, the victim from Yulong village, Rongshan town of Lizhou district, Guangyuan.
The two witch doctors were called on Saturday night by villagers when they heard Lu hysterically crying. After their attempt to drive out the devil in Li’s body, the pair released her to villagers with Li’s face already black and unable to stand, reported China.org.
They sealed her inside the barrel and then they heated the container by pouring boiling water underneath. Because of more screams from Li, the villagers told the witch doctors to stop, but the two insisted the screams came from the devil, not the woman, according to Daily Mail.
At this point, the villagers stepped in and prevented the witch doctors from further treating Li. They then sought medical help. However, despite the arrival of medical workers and efforts to revive the woman, Li eventually died.
