Game of Thrones fans would want to see an alive and kicking Jon Snow on Season 6 of the HBO hit television series, in defiance of the Season 5 finale episode that suggested Ned Stark's illegitimate son will bleed to death following the attack by his Night's Watch brothers. And Jon Snow will indeed survive the assassination and live to become King of Westeros.
Despite HBO's active campaign to convince GoT viewers that Snow is dead, rumors continue to spread like wildfire that the character played by actor Kit Harington will be back with a vengeance. It matters not how the Lord Commander of the Night's Watch will be brought back from the dead or who will resurrect him (rumors point to the Red Religion priestess Lady Melisandre) but what counts is the grand purpose of the Jon Snow resurrection.
In a clip posted by YouTube channel Screen Rant (and can be viewed below), a Game of Thrones theory tries to paint the grand scheme of things on why Jon Snow will live another day or numerous days notwithstanding the seemingly fatal wounds he received. He will become King of the Seven Kingdoms and serve as savior of mankind in the GoT universe.
Jon Snow will live as "the Prince that was promised ... or the Dragon Prince," Screen Rant theorized.
The Screen Rant video further discussed that Jon in fact is not only a highborn but also came from royal seeds. He is a Stark but not because of Eddard Stark's one-time dalliance with an unknown mistress but because was the deceased Lyanna, Ned' sister.
The father was the Mad King's (Aerys II) first born Rhaegar Targaryen, who has yet to appear in the TV series but was the subject of backstory narratives. The handsome and elegant Rhaegar allegedly kidnapped Lyanna and stole her from Robert Baratheon. In the end, Baratheon ascended to the Iron Throne but not before killing Rhaegar.
The act would have been just but fans are convinced that Rhaegar and Lyanna were lovers and the revolt led by House Baratheon was partly in response to the two running away. Now the last Targaryen prince may have been slain but not his heir - the one conceived with Lyanna Stark. This is where the R + L + J theory comes in with Jon Snow as the end Targaryen product and is therefore the rightful claimant to Iron Throne.
The theory indicates too that Ned Stark knew of the real story and his claim that Jon Snow was his bastard was merely a ruse to protect his sister Lyanna's name and the young Jon. Had King Robert known, Jon would have been killed.
Yet Jon Snow survived the threat and he will the Night's Watch stabbing, the theory said. But before savoring the Iron Throne Jon Snow must first muster an army that will face the seemingly invincible hordes of White Walkers, tens of thousands of them, threatening to swarm into the Seven Kingdoms and wipe out humanity.
So the chance is high that within the Game of Thrones Season 6, which will start airing April 24, Jon Snow will rise from the dead, fulfill the prophecy that he is the prince that was promised or the Dragon Prince, save Westeros from impending doom and rule the kingdom.
