A few weeks before the reported March 22 Apple event, fans remain optimistic that alongside the 4-inch iPhone SE and the 9.7-inch iPad Pro there will be new MacBook Pro and Air that will be unveiled, or at least will get introduced prior to the devices' rumored release date on or before June 2016. What would be the minimum things to expect?
In a report posted by Macworld UK, it is assumed that the MacBook refresh this 2016 will certainly involve the launch of new 13-inch and 15-inch builds that will replace the current models available. There are talks too that a 15-inch and 12-inch MacBook Airs are in the works though Apple as expected has declined to comment on the matter.
The leading narrative on any of the MacBook 2016 upgrades is that Apple will use Intel Skylake as the new platform for its notebook lines and the result would be more power and speed for the OS X computing machines.
With Skylake as its main engine, the upcoming MacBooks will surely gain more muscles than ever, according to Macworld, which will only highlight the overall increased performance that the devices will be unpacked with. And thanks to upcoming OS X 10.12, working in tandem with Skylake, the new MacBooks are poised to add up on battery juice.
For the 13-inch MacBook Pro, the battery hour bump should reach a high of 12 hours and at least nine hours for the 15-inch model. The same is already seen with the MacBook Airs, Macworld noted, so delivering on such expectations should be doable on Apple's part.
The same report also speculated that the 15-inch MacBook Pro will mighty up with a quad-core i7 processing chip, rendering the notebook with computing prowess that is desktop-class or equal to that of the 27-inch iMac.
As for the new MacBook finish, speculations are rife that Apple will unbox a Gold MacBook, which makes sense as the color option has become a standard, and well-received at that, on the iPhone and iPad lines. If ever, a Gold MacBook will likely be limited on the 12-inch Pro and Air, Macworld said on its report.
And there are whispers too, though long-shot, that the 2016 MacBook lines will be distinct from the past builds mainly on three killer features - Siri on Mac that will be hardcoded with the soon to come OS X upgrade, the intro of touchscreen inputs and a detachable screen that will match the Microsoft Surface Book.
If at least the MacBook Pro and Air 2016 get to be previewed this March then it is safe to say that the actual release date will be within this year's edition of the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) that is rumored to kick of third week of June.
