The New York Knicks have emerged as a front-runner for Derrick Rose in the event the Chicago Bulls decided to unload the former NBA MVP this summer, according to Sportsrageous.com. The Knicks, on the brink of missing the postseason for third consecutive season, will make a strong push for several incoming free-agent guards this offseason, but aren't ruling out the possibility of making a big splash on the trading front.

-The Knicks are expected to make a ton of moves this offseason, especially if they bombed out of the postseason race. Knicks president Phil Jackson is facing immense pressure to deliver another star in New York. Other than rookie big man Kristap Porzingis, the Knicks will try exploring the trade value of everyone on their locker room, including All-Star forward Carmelo Anthony who has a no trade clause.

Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders is expecting the Bulls to make a decision on the future of their former franchise player, Derrick Rose. According to NBA insider, Chicago could try trading the point guard as early as this offseason before he gets a chance to leave in 2017.

The Knicks, who are believed to be an All-Star caliber point guard away to becoming a major contender in the East, are one of several teams who could make a bid for the 27-year old Rose.

"They do have to find some answers to the roster fit with Hoiberg. It would not surprise me at all if the Bulls explore Derrick Rose's trade value because I think he leaves the Bulls as a free agent in 2017."

-Speaking of Anthony, there's a chance the Knicks revisits the botched blockbuster deal involving the Boston Celtics and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Frank Isola of New York Daily News reported that several teams are already lining up for Anthony in case he decided to leave New York this summer.

The Celtics and Cavaliers will once again try to lure Anthony, while an old suitor in the Bulls could re-emerge as potential destination for the All-Star small forward. -Isola also reported about the status of Phil Jackson as the top decision maker for the Knicks.

The NBA insider, based on what he has heard from a source with knowledge of the situation, believes Jackson' days with the Knicks might end sooner as owner James Dolan grows impatient with his rebuilding plan.

"If the Knicks completely fall apart Dolan may not sign off on Jackson's next coaching hire, whether that is Rambis, Brian Shaw or Luke Walton. Dolan wasn't in favor of Jackson's first choice, Steve Kerr, and if Dolan were to interfere again that could expedite Jackson's departure," Isola stated in his report.
