According to IGN, the 100th episode of the show is set to feature a fan-created Wesen. Jessica Short created the Wettbewerbsgewinner as part of the #Grimme Your Best Shot contest on Tumblr. Later, her entry was chosen by the producers to showcase during the episode.
Showrunners Jim Kouf and David Greenwalt said in a statement that they wanted to give back to the fans.
"We chose this submission because of its unique artwork and her clear passion for the show. This Wesen fits into the Grimm world seamlessly and her style is similar to that of the conceptual artists on the show. Thanks to all of our fans who participated. We enjoyed looking at all your submissions."
Meanwhile, the showrunners talked to TVLine about the upcoming episode. Greenwalt stated that they answer the keys soon and Kouf added that they will "wrap up those suckers."
They added that in order to open the box, they need more than the keys.
The official synopsis of "Grimm" Season 5, episode 12 reads, "Nick and Monroe find trouble in Germany after discovering a treasure that has been hidden for centuries. Back home, there's havoc in the streets of Portland as Capt. Renard, Hank and Wu attempt to stop a deadly assassin; at the same time, Eve is hunting down the same man. Meanwhile, Rosalee is tracked down by someone from her past."
