According to Xperia Blog, since the Android Marshmallow is already on its 0.1 version, the Xperia Z5 devices will only be getting the global release of the original Android Marshmallow version 6.0 update.
As far as the firmware update is concerned, the Xperia Z5 devices will get the latest security patches. It should also be noted that the features in the stock Android Marshmallow update will not be included in the global Sony version.Features like the Stamina mode in power enhancement, along with the adoptable storage for those using the microSD support, will not make the cut for the Xperia Z5 series.
It is further reported that the previous generations of the Xperia Z series are also in line to receive the Android Marshmallow update. A few child devices of Sony Xperia Z3 Plus along with the Xperia Z4 Tablet are currently receiving notifications, which prompt the users for an automatic update to Android Marshmallow.
All those users, who are yet to receive the automatic update notification, can check for it manually under Settings > About Phone tab. The update will bring about many changes to the UI of the devices. The device will get the support for USB Type-C connection port, fingerprint scanner support, Android Pay support, along with the new Doze feature, according to BGR.
