There’s a very long list of TV series that were made into movies and vice versa.
From sitcoms (situational comedy) to family dramas to children’s shows, numerous TV programs caught the attention of film outfits and were given a different interpretation in the big screen.
Now a movie inspired by a cooking show? Why not?
Moviegoers will see Hong Kong actor-singer Nicholas Tse as a street cook in Raymond Yip’s upcoming project, “Emperors Cook Up a Story,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.
THR said that in the film, Tse’s culinary skills will get challenged upon facing a Michelin-starred chef.
Ge You (“To Live,” “Gone with the Bullets”) and Tang Yan AKA Tiffany Tang (“Farewell for Love,” “Chronicles of the Ghostly Tribe”) will join the movie, which will be based from Zhejiang Satellite TV’s cooking show, “Chef Nic,” reported CRIENGLISH.
South Korean musician-TV actor Jung Yong-hwa, who graced the Jan. 2016 cover of Elle China, will also be seen in this movie.
It will be the first movie break of the 26-year-old lead singer of the pop rock band CNBLUE.
Hong Kong-based Emperor Motion Pictures (“The Twins Effect I and II,” “The Medallion”) will produce “Emperors Cook Up a Story.” Budgeted at HKD300 million (some $38 million), it will be “action, drama and comedy” rolled together, reported Naver.
Tse, 35, hosted “Chef Nic,” a 60-minute “part-reality, part-travelogue and part-infotainment” show, according to The New Paper.
The first season aired from July-Sept. 2014 and the second one from Aug.-Oct. 2015, both with 12 episodes each.
At Chef-nic.com, Tse said, “I am trying to find that little twist in ordinary flavors.”
Well, it seems that the 5-foot-10-inch-tall award-winning Hong Kong superstar successfully found that “little twist” when it comes to cookies.
Tse won the hearts--the taste buds, rather--of many with his cookies that come in butter, chocolate, chili and lemon flavors.
Priced at HKD200 per box, the cookies might truly be that delicious that “a long queue starts forming at 6 in the morning, waiting for the shop to open,” according to Giorik.com.
Tse’s bakeshop Taste of Feng, which opened in May 2015, teamed up with Beyond Dessert, reported Inside Retail Hong Kong.
It may be a good idea to snack on Tse’s cookies when one watches “Emperors Cook Up a Story,” scheduled for a Jan. 2017 release.
