Arguably, one of the stand-outs of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" is the 23-year-old British actress Daisy Ridley. Ridley played Rey - a scavenger who was abandoned on the desert planet Jakku as a child. Because of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" success, Ridley has reportedly received several offers to play other iconic roles. The young actress has since confirmed that there are talks for her to take over a particularly recognizable role.
During the recent Empire Awards, Ridley confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that she is being considered to star in the "Tomb Raider" reboot. She explains that there has yet to be definite plans for the project, and currently, she is waiting for word on whether she has been chosen for the role.
"I'm waiting for someone to say 'I want you, let's do it', explained Ridley.
During the interview, there was some concern on whether or not Ridley would have time to accommodate the "Tomb Raider" project, considering how the eighth episode of "Star Wars" is currently filming. The young actress, however, is confident that she would find the time saying:
"Absolutely, I'm trying to fill up my calendar,"
Ridley's "Star Wars" co-star John Boyega has also spoken out about Ridley playing Tomb Raider. The actor explained that he has played the latest version of the game, and he thinks that Ridley would be perfect for the role.
"I texted Daisy [and] was like, 'this is you!' and 'you need to get on that because you could be Lara Croft.' She should be" explained Boyega as reported by Game Spot.
Meanwhile, there is no denying the success of last year's Disney feature "Star Wars: The Force Awakens." The reboot broke records for advanced ticket sales, weeks before the movie officially made its debut. The movie opened to a whopping $528 million worldwide. Ultimately, "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" was named the highest grossing release of 2015, and the third highest grossing film of all time after surpassing the $2 billion mark on the 53rd day of its release.
Aside from the box-office success, the "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" has also been well-received by critics. It currently holds a 92 percent approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and an A+ rating on Cinemascore.
