Four months since Google began rolling out its latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow Operating System, many Samsung Galaxy smartphones and tablet users are still waiting for their update.
Last month, after weeks of speculations and many days of confusion, Samsung eventually took a big step in the right direction and users finally have some movement for multiple devices, according to Gotta Be Mobile. While the South Korean tech giant is yet to confirm every single plan for Marshmallow updates, including information about Galaxy S6, Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy Note 4, and Galaxy S7, here is what is known so far.
Samsung finally confirmed its first trio of Marshmallow updates, and unsurprisingly, the company is headed to the Galaxy S6. The Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update is rolling out for the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, and Galaxy Edge Plus in Korea. These updates are also seen around the world.
According to a different report by the same publication, Android Marshmallow updates have started rolling out in the United Kingdom, India, Austria, Iraq, Russia, and the Netherlands. Recently, the updates arrived in Germany, Croatia, Italy, Czech Republic, Spain, and Macedonia among other countries.
Samsung Galaxy S6 Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update made it to North America with Sprint users reporting the start of the roll out for Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. Apparently, the U.S. bound Galaxy S6 update is big, over 1GB, and it brings many improvements, features, and bug fixes.
Since the updates are making their way to Asia, US, Europe, and the Middle East, users should expect more Galaxy S6 Marshmallow updates to follow. Canadian Telus is among the first North American carriers to confirm specific dates for the roll out on Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus. According to the carrier, the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus Marshmallow will roll out on March 25 together with Galaxy S6 Marshmallow update.
The confirmed updates will be followed by the Galaxy S6 Marshmallow update on April 13. However, these are just but approximate dates, and they are subject to change.
Similarly, T-Mobile has confirmed a trio of Galaxy S6 Marshmallow updates and users expect rival carriers in the US to follow the same trend. The carrier plans Android Marshmallow updates for Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, and S6 Edge+. It is important to note that none of these updates has gone beyond the "Manufacturer Development" stage, which means that they are still in the lab at Samsung.
There are reports that Samsung is planning Galaxy S6 updates for AT&T and Verizon, although there are no details about the same updates.
