Google is reportedly releasing the final version of Android N by July this year, indicating that a Nexus 2016 device will be made available at the same time. But the bigger news is Samsung will issue its second flagship in the same month, hinting of a significantly earlier Galaxy Note 6 release date than in 2015.
Picking up a business story published by Korean-based The Bell, Phone Arena reported that the next phablet flagship from Samsung, the Galaxy Note 6, will touchdown as early as July 2016, specifically in the third week of the month. The upcoming device is said to have been nicknamed by Samsung engineers as Grace and will debut running the final cut of Android N or the Google mobile operating system to replace Android Marshmallow.
Android N, according to the same report, will be ready for the world at the given schedule, which indicated too that the OS will roll out earlier and likely to be showcased on a Google Nexus 2016 device.
The advanced Android N debut makes sense, Phone Arena said, noting that the software is already in the Developer Preview phase and the beta builds are likely to be finalized before the staging of Google's 2016 I/O Developers Conference in May 18. The report, however, provided no specific details, such as the feature upgrades that will deploy with the next Android.
And it is the same case with the Note 6 as The Bell report carried no specs and features that Samsung will deliver with the device.
Thankfully, Phone Arena shared what is has gathered so far on the killer improvements packed with the Note 6. The jumbo phone is said sport a 5.8-inch display or a slight increase from the Galaxy Note 5. The processing chip is likely any of the Snapdragon 820 or Exynos 8890 (that both powered the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge) or both.
The Note 6 is also expected to mirror the key features presented with the GS7 and bump up on some of them. The camera combo of 12-megapixel on rear and 5-megapixel on front will be part of the deal but the 4GB RAM provision of the S7 is likely to jump by up to 6GB.
A 128GB edition of the Galaxy Note 6 is also a looming possibility but Phone Arena is not discounting the likelihood of a 256GB version since Samsung has earlier stated that such massive storage is ready for mass production.
And the S-Pen stylus that the Galaxy Note phablet is known for is expected to unbox with fresh feature updates, the report said.
If the forecast will prove correct, the Galaxy Note 6 release date will happen July 2016 but before that Google will probably unleash the Nexus 7 2016 tablet and the two devices will debut running on sweet Android N or Nutella as some believe the OS label would be.
