Jeremy Lin put himself back in Sixth Man of the Year conversation with another dazzling performance in the Charlotte Hornets' 105-100 victory over the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday at the Barclays Center.
Lin, who exploded for 29 points to help the Charlotte Hornets pull off a comeback victory over the San Antonio Spurs on Monday, continued his hot-shooting as he went 8-for-12 from the field (1-for-2 from beyond the arc) for 21 points in 30 minutes of action. He also chipped in with four assists and two rebounds, while limiting his turnover to just two in the game.
Nicolas Batum led way with 23 points for the Hornets while starting point guard Kemba Walker and Frank Kaminsky tallied 14 apiece. With back-to-back wins, Charlotte has improved its record to 41-30 and kept themselves in the thick of the fight for a home-court playoff advantage. The Nets, on the other hand, dropped to 19-51 in the season.
Lin back in Sixth Man of Year Race:
With another sterling performance off the bench, Lin springs back to contention in the Sixth Man of the Year race. In a season where no player has fully established as the favorite to win the year-ender award, the former Harvard has a chance to steal the victory, especially if he continues to put up strong remainder towards the end of the season.
Averaging 11.7 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game, the 27-year old point guard has been a catalyst for the Hornets all season long, whether on the defensive or offensive side of the floor. Moreover, Lin came through with big-time performance against marquee opponents like Toronto Raptors (33 points), Los Angeles Clippers (26 points), Cleveland Cavaliers (24 points and 8 assists) and the best defensive team in the league, the Spurs.
