Apple will reportedly upgrade the 12-inch MacBook with Retina and Intel Skylake chip before the end of April 2016, which will then be followed by the 13-inch and 15-inch flavors of the ultrathin MacBook Pro a few weeks after or via the 2016 WWDC in June.
The possibility of a silent refresh for the 12-inch MacBook next month was detected thanks to a reference listed on OS X server app System Image Utility that indicated support for the 2015 MacBook and newer version with Retina display. Apparently, the 2016 12-inch MacBook will come out early in the year or within the first four months of 2016.
As the original version came out April last year, it is likely that the upgrade will roll out in the same month this 2016, MacRumors said in a report.
In terms of build and design, the 2016 12-inch MacBook jump is believed to be a minor one as the externals will most likely mirror what were seen last year. The biggest change would be giving the new MacBook with Retina display.
However, 9to5Mac said that from Intel Core M Broadwell the MacBook will make a jump to the Intel Core M Skylake platform, specifically using Core m3-6Y30, Core m5-6Y54 and Core m7-6Y75. Any of the three are said to deliver at least 10 hours of battery life to the 12-inch MacBook with gains of up to 20 percent more of CPU speed and up to 40 percent faster GPU.
The 2016 12-inch MacBook is expected to sell starting at $1299 and its imminent release will likely result to further discounts for the 2015 models, which according to 9to5Mac are currently up for grabs with up to $300 price off. The mark downs somehow suggest of the approaching arrival of the replacements.
The news of the supposed early release date for the 2016 12-inch MacBook came following the latest report from Asia that said MacBooks in 13-inch and 15-inch configurations will begin shipping out in the next few months, possibly within or right after the 2016 WWDC in June. It was not indicated if the launch will involve the MacBook Pro or MacBook Air but the report specified of ultrathin builds.
It was mentioned too that the upcoming MacBooks will have the same industrial design as that of the 12-inch MacBook, which suggests that on release date any of the 2016 MacBook Pro or Air will unbox in ultraportable profile.
