It has been recently rumored that Jeremy Lin is returning to the New York Knicks due to his recent performance. His contribution to the Charlotte Hornets defeating the San Antonio Spurs has made an impact to his market value.
The Knicks team has been looking to upgrade the point guard position in the offseason soon. Lin has been considered to sign again with the team in July.
The Hornets backup point guard said that he is already having a lot of fun where he is now, in an interview with Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN NewYork. He added that he does not want to get too far ahead of himself and he does not want the free agency to affect his focus.
While Lin was open to the idea of him returning to the New York Knicks, it turns out the team was not interested in taking him back. However, there was no conversation other than the team telling him that they were not interested anymore.
Lin has been displaying a relatively excellent performance in the team recently as backup point guard and he has been averaging almost 12 points, 2.9 assists and 3.1 rebounds. When he played with the Knicks during the 2011 to 2012 season, he averaged 14.6 points, 6.2 assists and 3.1 rebounds. This was his best season in the NBA.
On March 21, Monday, Lin scored 15 of his 29 points in the fourth quarter, which lead the Hornets to their victory. Their win over San Antonio Spurs was said to be a confidence builder for Lin.
"Jeremy was the catalyst," Denver Post quoted Hornets coach Steve Clifford as saying. "In the first quarter, we were just shooting. The ball wasn't getting into the paint and he got the ball going to the basket."
For the Hornets forward Nicolas Batum, Lin has been huge for the team. He was quoted by the publication as saying that during their recent game against the Spurs, Lin gave the team life again in the second quarter and he did it again on March 22, Tuesday, and the team would have won the game if Lin did not step up again for them.
