The critically acclaimed TV series will return airing on HBO with some major twists. Showrunners Dan Weiss and David Benioff themselves has hinted that this season will not be easy to bear, and revealed how the Season 6 differs to its previous seasons.
Aside from the death of Jon Snow is lingering question to fans worldwide, the possibility that major spoilers will start to unleash are apparently starting to terrify some fans. The TV series is apparently an adaptation of George RR Martin's series of fantasy novels titled "A Song of Ice and Fire."
However, the author posted on his official blog on early January this year and revealed that his next book in the saga, "The Winds of Winter," is not yet finished and that it will not be ready by the time that the TV series' returns on April 24.
In contrast to its previous seasons', the storyline for the upcoming Season 6 will be slightly different from its source material. Book lovers then expressed their sadness, adding that the upcoming Season 6 might spoil the future books for them. However, Benioff and Weiss reassured fans worldwide by saying that the show will surely not spoil future books.
"So much of what we're doing diverges from the books at this point. And while there are certain key elements that will be the same, we're not going to talk so much about that - and I don't think George is either," Benioff told The Entertainment Weekly.
Ever since the drama first premiered on HBO way back 2011, the TV series have continued to show some points of similarity between the two epic tales. Weiss then added that it is ideal to think of the series and the book as a two completely separate entities, two congruities that just so happen to occur in the same world that deals with the same characters.
The much-awaited Season 6 arrives this April 24, where both showrunners believed that the new season will rank as the show's best season ever. Below is a promo video for "Game of Thrones" Season 6:
