Christian Mathis, 42, who is professionally known as Trick Trick, recently talked about he was inspired by Matthew Mathers III, 43, who is professionally known as Eminem. The two are both Detroit rappers.
During his appearance on "Live with Steve Lobel," Trick Trick said it was the late DeShaun Dupree Holton, who was professionally known as Proof, who introduced him to Eminem. At the time, Eminem was with his manager Paul Rosenberg.
"Em and Paul came to the show," Trick Trick recalled. "He put me up on him already, but I had never met him face to face."
It appears that Trick Trick did not have a good impression on Eminem at first. When he saw Eminem and Rosenberg, he told Proof, "There's some mean-looking-a** white boys, man."
Born in Detroit, Michigan, Proof was Eminem's childhood friend. They were fellow members of the Detroit hip-hop group until the former was shot and killed in 2006 at a nightclub in their hometown.
According to Trick Trick, it was Proof who introduced him to the entire hip-hop culture. In a phone conversation with Proof, Trick Trick called Eminem Infinite by mistake, which is the title of the debut album of the "Rap God" rapper.
Eventually, Trick Trick and Eminem collaborated in several singles. Among these are "Welcome to Detroit," "Who Want It," "Twerk Dat Pop That" also featuring Royce da 5'9" and "Detroit vs. Everybody" also featuring Royce da 5'9", Big Sean, DeJ Loaf and Danny Brown.
While Trick Trick has released two studio albums, Eminem is set to release his ninth studio album. It has been more than two years since the "Rap God" rapper released an album.
Eminem's most recent album "The Marshall Mathers LP 2" was released by Aftermath Entertainment, Shady Records and Interscope Records on Nov. 5, 2013. "Rap God" is among the 16 tracks from the album.
"The Marshall Mathers LP 2" also had four collaboration songs. These are "The Monster" featuring Rihanna, "Love Game" featuring Kendrick Lamar, "Headlights" featuring Nate Ruess and "A**hole" featuring Skylar Grey.
