Frankie Edgar's manager, Ali Abdelaziz, recently expressed the full range of his anger after knowing that Conor McGregor vs. Nate Diaz is set to have a rematch fight at UFC 200. Abdelaziz claimed that McGregor is apparently cherry picking his opponents.
The 34-year-old former UFC Lightweight champion has been tingling to have a battle with McGregor over the past years. However, Edgar did not have an opportunity to thump the Irish mixed martial artist off his perch.
After the McGregor vs Diaz at UFC 196, everyone apparently assumed that Edgar was finally going to get his wish and that is to defeat McGregor. However, previous reports noted that the UFC had already issued contracts to McGregor and Diaz, confirming that both fighters will have their highly anticipated welterweight rematch at UFC 200 in July, The BJPENN|COM reported.
Former WSOF executive and Edgar's manager took to Instagram on March 25, Friday to express his outrage about Edgar not getting booked to fight McGregor, noting that the latter is clearly ducking his client as he apparently knows that Edgar would have whooped his ass.
"When history speaks for itself, Frankie Edgar will go down as they guy who fought anyone at any weight, anytime, and anywhere. But when history speaks for Conor McGregor, he was a UFC champion who hand-picked his opponents and chose guys out of shape to fight him and he ducked Frankie," the caption reads.
It appears that Abdelaziz has given up the fight for his client and resigned himself to the reality of Diaz vs McGregor II, but he will apparently not going to pretend to be happy about the UFC's choice. He then blamed the UFC for allowing McGregor to "hand pick" his opponents and that, it is really up to the company to make the Irishman fight Edgar.
Abdelaziz finished his long rant by noting that he has zero respect for a champion who ducks contenders. As of press time, both McGregor and the UFC has yet to comment on the said issue.
