The Gmail security features have now been updated by Google and have become stronger against cyber-attacks. It is designed to make sure the email users will not fall victim to scams and other cyber-attack crimes.
The internet company wants to make sure that no malicious element can take advantage of their customer's accounts without their knowledge. The new security system warns a user if there is someone it suspects of trying to steal his or her password or trying to access the email account, Nashville Chatter reported.
If the company thinks they are being targeted by a state-sponsored attack, they will always warn their users ahead of time and that has been going on since 2012, according to Google's official security blog. These cases happen rarely but they want their users to be ready at all times. These attacks are usually about radicals making their own stand or activists protesting about an issue.
On February 9, Safer Internet Day was held and the company introduced a red lock icon feature on their email. This icon lets email users know that the email message they received was not delivered using encryption or they are making an email message to a recipient whose email service does not have TLS encryption.
With that new introduction of a security feature for the company's email, it got a quick and positive effect right away. Encrypted emails had increased by 25 percent alone after introducing that new feature. They are encouraged by this swift and positive progress for the security system of their email.
On March 24, to make the company's users safe, they launched a new page warning that has full instructions. These warning might appear to look like the new ones or it will just have additional sentences to it.
In addition, Safe Browsing, a security measure for Google applications, will now protect Gmail users. It will protect users by warning them ahead before they will visit websites that are known to be dangerously filled with malware and viruses. If users click a dangerous link, they will see first the Safe Browsing warning page first before proceeding.
