Sean Penn said that her possible marriage with Charlize Theron would be his first although he previously tied the knot with Madonna and Robin Wright, according to People
The Oscar winner said that his first and second marriages happened when he was "less informed." Penn refused to brand his possible union with Theron as his third but he would rather call it as his first. The Hollywood star said that the relationship may seem "too late" but he is genuinely happy with Theron.
Penn shared that being in a relationship in a more mature time of your life is "more romantic and fulfilling." The actor is looking forward to get married again although the first two ended up in divorce.
Penn was married to Madonna in 1985 and the couple divorced in 1989. The actor confirmed that he is in friendly terms with the iconic singer despite the controversial relationship, which resulted to Madonna contacting law enforcers after a fight in their Malibu home, Esquire reported.
In 1996, Penn married Wright who was the current star of the "House of Cards" series. The couple decided to move away from Los Angeles to avoid exposing their children in the showbiz world. They raised their daughter Dylan and son Hopper in Marin County.
Penn and Wright divorced in 2010 and the actor revealed that he has good relationship with his grown up children. However, the "Milk" star refused to share more information about her relationship with their mother, according to Los Angeles Times.
The actor added that going through divorce is always difficult. The entire process can make you hurt the other person but it can also make you realize your mistakes in the relationship.
Meanwhile, Penn will be starring in a crime-drama film "The Gunman," which will hit theatres on March 20.
