More clues are gradually emerging that suggest any of the MacBook Pro or Air will get a refresh treatment this 2016 with possible release date following the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June. A new Mac when unbox is believed to mirror the build and design of the 12-inch MacBook and the software to power the device is set to be renamed macOS, new reports said.
Picking up from the rumors coming from Asia, long-time Apple device concept maker Martin Hajek offered his vision of what a 15-inch Mac would be. The result is an ultra-slim MacBook Pro with Retina display and 2016 top-tier specifications.
The large-screen but trimmed down laptop, as visualized by Hajek, is the scaled up 2015 MacBook through and through, according to 9to5Mac. The device lines and angles, the keyboard layout and key configurations were borrowed by the concept author. There remains the SD card slot for memory expansion purposes and the 3.5mm audio jack.
Hajek, however, is convinced that the USB-C port will play a prominent in the new Mac ecosystem and the main benefits would be faster data sharing or transfer and accelerated battery recharging.
It's interesting too that in rendering the ultraportable MacBook Pro, the same designer took the liberty of appropriating the popular color options seen with the recent iPhone and iPad model. Hajek is imagining that with the 2016 MacBooks, the Gold and Rose Gold finishes will be part of the menu.
The same concept came with a visualized OS X fresh version, which incidentally is being rumored to get a new name in time for the 10.12 build release. It is actually a blast from the past as Apple Insider said that the likelihood of the MacBook operating system becoming macOS is the software returning to its former name.
If true that the latest El Capitan framework bears hidden code that points to the imminent introduction of macOS 11 then Apple will simply use the OS X's original label, the report said. It was earlier thought that when the 2016 Macs and MacBooks are unpacked, the software to power them will be officially known as OS X 10.12.
It is expected that the details on the matter and perhaps even confirmation will drop via the 2016 WWDC that is scheduled to take place in June, which is Apple's usual launch pad for its latest operating system. It's highly likely too that release date of the 2016 MacBook Pro and Air within or right after the same event.
