Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimović reportedly turned down an unbelievable £1 million per week offer to move to China as he is keen on suiting up for an English Premier League side instead but demands a £600,000 weekly wage to do it.
The Telegraph reported that the current Paris Saint-Germain star "has turned down an offer to earn a tax-free" £56.1 million a year compensation to play in the Chinese Super League as he is planning a move to England, but said that he "wants to earn the same incredible salary he is on at the French giants".
The report said that his salary for a Premier League club should be about £560,000 including taxes, which reportedly will make him "by far the highest-paid player in the league".
With that kind of salary, he is set to earn more than what Manchester United cash cow Wayne Rooney is making with the Red Devils, which is about £260,000 to £300,000 per week including image rights.
According to Daily Mail Online, Premier League clubs are skeptical about Ibrahimović's demand, with one league insider saying that "we would like to sign him, but the money is crazy. We get that he would be a significant capture, but is he really worth that money - and at the age of 34?"
Expectedly, the 6-foot-5 goalscorer's age was brought up as he is in the downhill side of his prime years.
Even so, Chinese clubs are prepared to pay him what is set to be the richest compensation in world football history, more than £1 million a week in wages, which is three times the salary earned by the world's highest-paid footballer Lionel Messi in Barcelona at the moment.
There are no definite known reasons why Ibrahimović the massive money China move, but reports are out that if the Malmö, Sweden native will not be able to join a Premier League squad, he will just stay with Les Parisiens or just retire after his current contract with the Ligue 1 champions expires at the end of the season.
PSG is said to be ready to let go of Ibrahimović this summer as the team is targeting Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo. The Paris giants reportedly cannot afford to pay both superstars at the same time and so Ibrahimović has to go in order to accommodate Ronaldo.
