Reeling team Atalanta BC (8-13-9, 33 points) will look to follow up on their impressive win during the last matchday as they face contending squad AC Milan (13-7-10, 49 points) at their home field of Stadio Atleti Azzurri d'Italia on April 3rd, Sunday in a 2015-2016 Serie A season contest.
Atalanta was on a 14-game winless streak before the team was able to snap it with a 2-0 blanking of middling club Bologna FC also at their home stadium on March 20th, as reported by Forza Italian Football.
Argentine winger Alejandro Gomez scored the opening goal at the 27th minute before teammate forward Alessandro Diamanti doubled it at the stroke of halftime for head coach Edy Reja's side, which would be the final score of the match.
The visitors were not able to come back in the second half as defenders Ibrahima Mbaye and Daniele Gastaldello were sent off in separate times late in the game, at the 78th and 85th, to hand them an extreme two-man disadvantage.
With the win, La Dea was able to climb up five points away from bottom three relegation and settle for the 14th spot in the league table with eight games left in their 2015-2016 campaign.
Meanwhile, Milan has also been winless in their last three outings after mercurial performances in several games before that.
They are currently at the sixth spot of the league table and it looks like the team will again not qualify in next season's Champions League as they are 11 points behind Roma, who holds the third and final Serie A Champions League qualification berth.
Milan is coming off a tough 1-1 draw with fellow contending squad SS Lazio at their home field of San Siro also on March 20th, as per ESPN.
The two teams scored their goals early in the match, with a header by Lazio midfielder Marco Parolo at the ninth minute which was equalized by Milan striker Carlos Bacca six minutes later.
Even when I Biancocelesti midfielder Senad Lulic was sent off with six minutes left before the full time whistle, Siniša Mihajlović's side could still not score the winner as they settled in sharing a point in the overall standings with the visitors.
The predicted result is a 2-0 victory for AC Milan.
