‘Shadowhunters’ Season 2, episode 1 spoilers, airdate: What to expect when the show returns?

A very dark journey awaits Jace as "Shadowhunters" Season 1, episode 13 spring finale concludes and the characters get ready for another season. Moreover, "Shadowhunters" Season 2 will introduce more characters from the book.

"Shadowhunters" Season 2 expected airdate and spoilers

Freeform has renewed "Shadowhunters" for Season 2, however, the network has not revealed any official airdate. It is likely that Season 2 of the show will premiere in late fall this year or early 2017, Bustle reported.

In an interview with TVLine, showrunner Ed Decter talks about "Shadowhunters" Season 2. He is asked about taking liberties in Season 1 in terms of being close to the book.

"The goal in the writers' room is to make the fans feel like we're not going to end up in the place they're expecting, then surprise them with how we get there. We try to keep some surprises for the hardcore fans who initially ask "What are they doing? Why are they doing this?" The hope is that they eventually come to a point where they say, "Oh, I get it. I see what they were doing before," Decter said.

The showrunner also reveals that "Shadowhunters" Season 2 will have new characters from the book. He has stated that some characters from Season 1 will undergo a massive transformation. Decter has mentioned that Maureen, Simon's girlfriend will have a lot going on in the upcoming season. Meanwhile, Seelie Queen is one of the new characters that fans will see in "Shadowhunters" Season 2.

In "Mortal Instruments" by Cassandra Clare, both Clary and Jace could not stop their urges, although they are aware that they are siblings. It will be interesting to witness how this aspect is showcased in Season 2.

During the interview, Decter has said that Jace and Clary are chaste and the entire brother-sister angle and the awkward feelings create tension.

Moreover, for Jace, Valentine is more important than dealing his relationship with Clary.
