After countless speculations on a possible Guns N' Roses reunion, the members of the legendary rock band finally decided to push through with a tour which started on Friday, Apr. 2.
What many thought was just a spur of the moment actually came to fruition. What started as music icons urging Axl Rose, Slash and the original band members to perform one last time, they actually went for it. However, it was almost a lost cause due to certain circumstances, according to Blabber Mouth.
The band will be one original cast member short as Izzy Stradlin would not be joining the tour, Guns N' Roses insider "MSL" reported. According to the source, the negotiation fell through when Stradlin's camp reportedly asked for more money and it was not honored. However, the source insisted that it is not Izzy who demanded more money.
The source also added that Slash was almost out of the picture as he does not want his ex-wife, Perla Ferrar, having a share from his earnings should he do a reunion tour with the band. Fortunately, Slash and Ferrar are officially divorced. Moreover, the deal became more attractive for Slash as the band members will get royalty when a live DVD copy of the tour is out for sale.
"The position was open. Perla was gone. The hatchet had already been buried enough to agree on the DVD issue. There was nothing standing in the way anymore," MSL stated in its blog, "Everything came down to the wire. We'll see how long it lasts."
Meanwhile, keyboardist Dizzy Reed said that these issues have been nothing new to him. The 22-year veteran said that he dealt with this on a nightly basis and he just learned to do his job every night and not let himself be affected.
"The volatility is definitely still there, especially for me, because I've seen a lot," he said in an interview. "It keeps you on your toes for sure. I just show up every night as prepared as possible to do my job, and anything else that happens is out of my control. There's really no way to truly deal with that."
In other news, Axl Rose will be performing in a cast due to a broken foot, Spin reported. The band vocalist had to go through a surgery to fix the said injury. The band is set to play in Coachella 2016 and will also go on tour in Mexico City and a North American stadium tour is set to happen this summer. Here is a glimpse on their first performance in Troubadour on Apr. 2.
