Dallas Mavericks small forward Chandler Parsons may have hinted his next destination once the free agency hits in July.
Parsons said he has not given his upcoming free agency any thoughts, with the Mavs in the middle of a battle to secure their playoff spot in the Western Conference. However, the 27-year-old admitted he would it would be "exciting" to test the waters of free agency, when Parsons could entertain offers from other NBA teams, including his former club Houston Rockets.
"I wouldn't count [Houston] out," Parsons said, reports the Houston Chronicle.
"Obviously, playing there three years, I had a great time there. We had a lot of success. It will be interesting to see what they do with the head coaching job. I would love J.B. (Bickerstaff) to get that job. I wouldn't count out that option."
It was not the first time Parsons has hinted a possible reunion with the Rockets, where he became one of the top wings in the league. Last month, Parsons marveled at the great memories he had in Houston and confessed he would "never count out" a return at Clutch City.
Parsons played three seasons with the Rockets before signing with the Mavs for on a three-year deal worth $46 million. The Florida product has a player option in the final year of his contract, and he is likely to opt out, thanks to the NBA's new TV deal, which is set to kick in this summer.
There are rumors about Parsons joining his good friend Dwight Howard on a team next season. In an interview with ESPN, Parsons revealed he plans to have a talk with Howard this summer, sparking speculations of the playing together once again.
One possible and intriguing destination for Parsons and Howard is the Orlando Magic, according to Matt Moore of CBS Sports.
"Howard has been linked to interest with the Orlando Magic, and so has Parsons. Those two going to Orlando and joining a roster stacked with young talent and cap space could make for a serious contender in the East, if they could add another player or two, or if Aaron Gordon, Victor Oladipo or Elfrid Payton make the leap," Moore wrote.
Whether Parsons and Howard could join forces remains to be seen, but considering the former's revelation, there is a chance the two could play together next season.
