With only two weeks left in the much-awaited premiere of "Game of Thrones" season 6, a season opener was screened at the Chinese Theatre on April 10, Sunday. The premiere screening is deemed as the only advance screening before the Emmy-winning drama debuts its sixth season on April 24.
The theatre was turned into a little piece of Westeros complete with a giant three-eyed raven, an Iron Throne and an animated dragon, while pennants from the Great Houses of Lannister, Stark and Targaryan draped the walls. The event was marked by never-seen-before ultra-tight reporting restrictions, whilen the precious few were given a stern warning not to reveal spoilers or plot points.
Stars walking the red carpet for the event were specially mum about the fate of Jon Snow in the coming season. Some of the cast members to dazzle the evening were Emilia Clarke, Maisie Williams, Sophie Turner, Peter Dinklage, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Lena Headey, Vanity Fair reported. Kit Harrington, the actor who plays Jon Snow, was curiously absent from the premiere.
While Sansa Stark is no more a suffering lady in the upcoming season, Emilia Clarke also assured the reporters that the viewers need not worry about Daenerys.
"We left her in a tight spot, but she's kind of a badass, so you never need to really worry," USA Today quoted the actress as saying.
Inside reports stated that "Game of Thrones" season 6 episode 1 opens back at the exact same snowy spot where the last tragic, bloody episode ended. A major part of the first episode is expected to be mournful and dark in tone.
As the episode titled "The Red Woman" suggests, Melisandre is present at Castle Black along with Jon Snow's corpse and will play a vital role in the upcoming episode with her mystical sorcery. Another female character that attracted the premiere screening was Brienne of Tarth, whose appearance was cheered loudly by the audience.
As mentioned in the episode 1 synopsis, Daenerys will meet a new Khal who strictly adheres to Dothraki traditions and just like Khal Drogo, does not speak a word of English. The new character will be played by Joe Naufahu. Watch the trailer of the hit HBO series below:
