The "Uncharted" game series has been very successful selling 21 million copies. For that, it is not surprising that when Naughty Dog announced that the anticipated "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" is going to be the final "Uncharted" game that it would develop, many were curious if there is a possibility that another developer would continue the saga.
Perhaps the answer of "Uncharted's" creative director Neil Druckmann will enlighten the avid supporters. He said in an interview with Game Radar that he is open for the possibility that another developer would continue the franchise.
"I'd want to play an 'Uncharted' I didn't work on. It'd be a lot of fun."
Druckmann added that Naughty Dog would play a big part of the hypothetical "Uncharted 5," knowing that he and his team created the game. He only hopes though that the other developer would get the game's essence right.
Druckmann's statement may have sparked interest among other game developers. With the record of "Uncharted" monetarily, it would be unlikely that no developers would jump in and develop a fifth installment of the game.
On the other hand, aside from the possibility of an "Uncharted 5" to be developed by other game developers, Druckmann also hinted a possible movie for "Uncharted" and "The Last of Us" in his interview with IGN.
Druckmann said that if the "Uncharted" movie would become a reality, he prefers that the story should focus on Elena, Nate and Sully. Druckmann emphasized that the movie should get it right in terms of Nathan Drake's relationship with Elena and Sullivan, and that if the movie failed to do this, then it will not work. According to rumors, Maisie Williams of "Games of Thrones" is going to be the female lead of the movie.
Nevertheless, there is still no confirmation yet whether a developer is going to grab the opportunity of continuing the legacy of "Uncharted." There is also no legitimate information relating to the rumored movie. The only thing that remains factual is "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" release date is slated on May.
